DH and I don't celebrate Valentine's Day--not much into a holiday that forces you to pay higher prices for flowers, chocolate, and cheesey stuffed animals to show how much you love someone. Everyday in this household is Valentine's Day (*gag*).

Anyway, after DH got his haircut on 14 February, he stopped by our local grocery store and picked up some flowers--mostly for DD because she was sick and running a fever, and DH thought that the sparkling glitter on the flowers would cheer her up. Well, they did and he is a hero to her because of it.

He did get me a bouquet, and I love them, not because they were bought on some frou-frou day, but because he is always thinking of me and I know he loves me and I am so very thankful for him and my un-Valentine Flowers.

Yay for DH!!! He brought cheesesteaks and other sandwiches home for dinner on Friday. NO COOKING FOR ME! Not that I don't enjoy cooking, I sort of do (especially with a 6-month old), I just don't like figuring out what we are going to have. Enter, my handsome, knight in shining armor. He sent me a text message earlier saying that he would bring home dinner. There is almost nothing that sets my heart a-flutter than DH coming through the door with a bag of food in his hand. (Maybe that's why I am still trying to lose weight--hmmm.)

After hurricane Ike, we had a lot of large limbs in our trees that where broken, but not enough that they broke off of the tree and fell to the ground. One of our trees in the backyard had a very large limb almost at the top of the tree that was just dangling there, laughing at us because it was going to cost about $300 for someone to go up there and cut it down. Well, not only am I thankful for windy weather, but for my God who sent the windy weather to blow and twist that mocking limb right out of the tree (and into our neighbor's yard--oops). Anyway, with God's help, we have saved $300. Yay!

Papa and Gigi came up to visit us on Tuesday (dying to see their grandchildren, I'm sure, and maybe DH and me a little :). I am certainly thankful and beyond blessed to have parents who love us and their grandchildren so much. The kids love it when we get to see them, and luckily they are not very far away, so we get to see them pretty often. Later that day we went to eat at a local Italian/pizzaria with Granny and Pa. Fun and good food was had by all. This is a picture of Papa and Gigi and the leftovers (you should always take home leftovers from a restaurant if you are not sharing a meal, right, mom??). Anyway, thankful for my parents and good food (which normally goes hand in hand).

Bob

We got Bob the dolphin at a garage sale after we moved here. Bob has been good to the kids. He used to hang from a tall tree on our side yard, but our HOA made us remove him, lest we be hit with a hefty fine (heaven forbid you have a blue, plastic dolphin swing hanging from a tree). Anyway, DH cleaned Bob up this past weekend so DS2 could go for a ride. He loved him just as much as the other two. BTW, in case you cared, Bob is named for the dolphin that DH and I got to come in contact with on our honeymoon at Epcot's "Dolphins in Depth" experience. Highly recommend putting on the very tight wetsuits and hanging out with the dolphins next time you go to Disney World!!

Modern Medicine

DS1 has been sick with a bad fever, aches and pains, and a headache. DH even brought him to the minor emergency clinic to make sure he didn't have strep or the flu (thank you, God, he didn't--in fact, the nurse told DH that DS1 was the only person that walked out of the clinic that day that didn't have strep or the flu--whew!). The doctor recommended ibuprofen and fluids, which we gave to him faithfully. He didn't make it to school on Monday, but he was 100% this morning. Again, thank God!!

Feet

These feet carried myself, my father-in-love and two sisters-in-love (Steph and Jeni) 3.1 miles on Saturday in the YMCA Bridge Fest. We have been planning to run together for quite a while now, and we finally got around to signing up for one. My father-in-love and Steph ran it in around 31 minutes (yea for them!!). Jeni, sweet, patient, Jeni, stayed with me while I ran slowly (but beat my previous Bridge Fest by 10 minutes). We ran it in around 36 minutes. I was pretty happy because I didn't think I could run 1/2 mile without stopping, forget about 3.1 miles. We did stop twice, but for less than one minute. I think we will plan on running another one together very soon!

My plan is to dedicate this website not only to things going on in our lives, but also to things in my life that I am thankful for. I will post a picture and a short reason why I am thankful.
